The world of art has always captivated me. Museums, traveling, classes, theater, galleries, architecture, music…you name it, I love it.

I remember being a kid and sitting on my grandma’s couch with a 4 inch-thick book from the National Gallery of Art on my lap. I’d sit there forever, fascinated by the artists’ technique and beauty of the paintings featured within. That book now sits on my coffee table.

As a college-student I recall a dynamic showing at the Seattle Art Museum where I spent hours awestruck by the artwork of Annie Leibovitz. The show, called Women, inspired me more than I realized at the time. I made sure to visit more than once.

During my undergrad years at the University of Colorado, Boulder, I enrolled in my first photography class. The unique and dynamic professor, Monika Lidman, began to teach me about the art of taking pictures. I distinctly remember telling myself, “When I have children, I want to be able to take really great pictures of them.”

Fast forward and here I am…with one terrific husband and two precious children – one in preschool and one in diapers.  It was when my first child was a newborn that I realized I could help others capture memories that they never want to forget. Now, via a creative and candid approach, I am able to bring my favorite things together – children and photography. I wholeheartedly thank God (and my super-supportive husband) for allowing me this opportunity to stay home and raise my children, while also doing something that I love – the art of photography.
